MUSIC EDITIONS

Manifesto

"Where music transcends sound to become a crafted object — ephemeral, timeless, yours."

We believe music deserves more than to be heard; it deserves to be held.

Each Artist’s Book is a curated dialogue between sound, literature, and form, a living expression of the ephemeral, captured through craftsmanship.

Our mission is to foster an imaginative network where musicians, composers, and artists converge, crossing boundaries between genres, disciplines, and traditions.

Through books, events, and bespoke commissions, Castiglioni Codex Music Editions exist to elevate music into an enduring, collectible language.

Gavin Bryars

Castiglioni Codex has collaborated with the composer Gavin Bryars on two of his most iconic works from the 1960s and 1970s: Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet and The Sinking of the Titanic.

Through the elevation of the musical score into artwork, these limited-edition artist’s books transform the compositions into tactile, collectible, and enduring forms.

Tom Johnson

An Hour for Piano by the American composer Tom Johnson stands as a manifesto of 1970s minimalism.

This publication was the last work realized by Tom Johnson in collaboration with Luigi Castiglioni before his passing in December 2024.

Signed in the original by the composer, the aesthetic of this artist’s book recalls the visual language of Sol LeWitt and other American minimalist artists close to Tom Johnson.

Pierre Boulez

2025 marked the creation of the limited-edition artist’s book Boulez — Hommages, conceived for the centenary of the birth of composer and conductor Pierre Boulez.

The volume became the centerpiece of an exhibition at the New York Philharmonic, celebrating Boulez’s legacy through music, art, and memory.

The book features 22 texts, each originally signed by its author, contributed by friends, colleagues, and leading cultural figures who took part in the realization of this limited edition. Among them are Renzo Piano, Daniel Barenboim, Susanna Mälkki, Philippe Manoury, and many others.
