NOTE TO THE READER

This book has been published as a limited edition, each copy bearing the handwritten signatures (and a stamp) of the contributors, as well as those of the publishers, Luigi Castiglioni and Guillaume Nogacki. We wish to inform the reader, however, that two contributions—those of Brigitte Marger and Daniel Barenboim—though fully included in the volume, could not be signed by their respective authors. This absence in no way diminishes the value of their texts, nor the heartfelt and thoughtful tribute they pay to the memory of Pierre Boulez.
